		<description>Vivisimo, of course, is the same company as Clusty - Clusty is the follow-up, as I understand it, to Vivisimo&#039;s metasearch.  The service got popular and they decided to launch it out as an all new service! 

That thought occurred to me as well about MSN&#039;s search sliders - I didn&#039;t write about it because I just don&#039;t know that much about how their sliders work. Didn&#039;t want to jump into it.

I don&#039;t use metasearch much myself, either.  I really like the idea, and on the few occasions I&#039;ve tested them I&#039;ve liked their results - yet, I just haven&#039;t gotten into the habit.  

Habit is a VERY powerful marketing characteristic - if you can get your visitors into the habit of coming by you have won a big battle.  That&#039;s where Google&#039;s got me snagged...</description>

I could see offering people variations based on different factors - two that come to mind quickly might be algorithms that focuse more on commercial sites, versus noncommercial pages.  Or newer sites, versus older ones.  Or quality of content versus link popularity.  

Actually, as I started typing the second of these choices, it struck me that MSN is already offering these variations with their search sliders.  

I don&#039;t use meta search engines much.  Some of them tend to be filled with a lot more advertising than the major search engines.
